Monkey is an app to meet people more directly by using videochats, letting you narrow down chat partners by gender and pick a category from several available ones.
After a quick registration – in which there's no requirement to upload photos, unlike on other social networks – you can start using the app. On the first screen it runs the search for people who match your criteria, gender, and category, and starts a video call or (if you've ticked this preference in the same window) a text-only chat.
On the left of this screen you see your friends, including Snapchat posts if they've linked their accounts. On the right are the different categories to pick from, with a tree opening out from the selected one to let you narrow down your search to the people who appear in that category.
Monkey has a time limit of 15 seconds for meeting the person, and it can be expanded or that person added as a friend if you're interested in carrying on the conversation.
